Anal Fistula

An anal fistula is a connection between the inside of the rectum or anus, with the peri-anal skin on the outside. It occurs due to the formation of a tract, which can take on a variety of configurations. It is the relationship of this configuration to the sphincter muscle complex that defines the type of surgical procedure that can be employed to safely treat the fistula tract without harming the sphincter muscle.

If you are affected by an anal fistula (symptoms of which can include peri-anal pain, swelling, discharge, itch, discomfort), Mr Mishreki will assess you, organise appropriate investigations, and discuss the most optimal surgical intervention to treat your fistula.
